Mariner

Not all search engines are alike. They have different ways of searching, and of displaying results, and recent research has shown that even the best cover only about 15% of what's out there on the Internet. So to find what you want, you often need to try a few. Mariner aims to speed up this process by condensing the bare essentials of the top search sites into a single interface.

When you launch Mariner or Messenger a new window appears, and the search results appear in a third window. If you have software which prevents pop-up windows this will need to be temporarily disabled. Mariner and Messenger need the original window, with the PlanetFusion home page, to work properly, so minimise it if you wish but don't close it while you are searching or submitting.

Changes happen frequently in the world of Internet searching, and PlanetWorks has quite a challenge keeping Mariner and Messenger tuned up. If you find a problem, please help us but letting us know using the form at the foot of the search window.

Messenger

This service is intended to simplify the time-consuming task of submitting details of web-pages to search engines. Submitting web pages via Messenger cannot improve your ranking if you are already listed, except as part of a programme of content enhancement.

Frequently repeated submission (by any method) may be interpreted by some search engines as an attempt to artificially influence ranking, and may consequently have the opposite effect! Use caution when submitting, whether via Messenger, directly, or via any other system.

Sites which are developed and hosted by PlanetWorks enjoy search engine management as standard. These sites are carefully designed, coded and submitted so as to optimise their performance in both the indexing and listing stages of the search process. The owners of these sites should not use Messenger.

Some search engines do not accept submissions, and others charge fees for commercial sites. Neither of these categories of search engine is supported by Messenger.
